Small-scale farmers and those considering starting a small-scale vegetable farm for a profit are invited to participate in a University of Georgia Cooperative Extension workshop.

The workshop will be Tuesday, April 5, at the UGA campus in Athens, Georgia. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and will be held at the UGArden, the UGA student-run vegetable garden located at 2500 Milledge Avenue, just south of the main campus.

UGA Extension horticulturists David Berle and Bob Westerfield will cover topics like considerations before beginning, what to grow, how to market produce, common mistakes and solutions, equipment selection, irrigation, planting methods, and organic techniques and fertilizers. Equipment selection will be discussed in a hands-on session.

The cost to attend is $49 and includes program materials, lunch and break refreshments. The program will be conducted outdoors, so participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.
