The Women in Agriculture Conference will feature assistant
secretary of agriculture Mary Waters March 22-23 at Callaway
Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
Waters, the assistant secretary for congressional relations,
will speak and answer questions on the new farm bill.
The annual Women in Ag conference is geared to particular needs,
problems and successes of women on the farm. Speakers will
address everything from legislative and water issues to coping
with change and public relations.
Other speakers include Randy Hudson of the University of
Georgia’s Center for Emerging Crops and Technologies; UGA county
Extension Service county agents Judy Bland and Rachel West; and
others.
Another highlight will be the presentation of the annual Woman of
the Year in Service to Georgia Agriculture Award.
An $89 fee ($79 before March 8) covers the classes, dinner Friday
