Walter Reeves

On “Gardening
in Georgia
” June 27 and 30, host Walter Reeves learns how to
stretch azalea
season
through May! Hank Bruno, trails manager at Callaway Gardens,
introduces Walter to Satsuki and Gumpo, the “fifth-month
azaleas.”

Then Parker Andes, also of Callaway Gardens, shows Reeves how to
prune an azalea. Callaway Gardens is home to thousands of
azaleas, and Andes shares his “secret tool” for mass pruning.

Reeves demonstrates a way to use discarded soft-drink bottles to
conserve potting soil in large containers. And he starts
nasturtium seeds outside, in a small area of his raised bed.

Finally, Beverly Sparks of the University of Georgia College of
Agricultural & Environmental Sciences
describes the life
cycle of aphids and tells how to control them on your plants.
