The people whose jobs include applying pesticides have to be
trained and certified by the state. And Georgia pesticide
applicators will have a training nearby on Feb. 15.
Wherever you are, the Satellite Pesticide Workshop 2001 won’t be
far away. The workshop is offered at 14 sites: Adel, Americus,
Augusta, Blairsville, Brunswick, Carrollton, Columbus,
Danielsville, Griffin, Lawrenceville, Swainsboro, Thomasville,
Tifton and Waycross.
Provided by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and
Environmental Sciences, the workshop begins at 8:15 a.m. at each
site. It ends at 4 p.m.
Eminent Instructors
CAES scientists and officials with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and Georgia Department of Agriculture will
teach the workshop sessions.
Commercial applicators will earn 5 hours of recertification
credit in any of 14 categories.
The workshop fee is $20 if you sign up by Feb. 1. After that,
it’s $30. The fee includes drinks and snacks during breaks.
To learn more about the workshop, or to sign up, contact the
county Extension
Service office. Or go to the CAES Entomology Department
Web site. Or call them at (706) 542-2816.
