The National Society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural
Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) will have its 18th annual
national career fair and training conference March 27-29 in
Atlanta.
About 1,200 students and professionals are expected to attend the
event at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel. The program will focus on
leadership, scholarship and service.
Tommy Irvin, Georgia commissioner of agriculture, and Gale
Buchanan, dean of the University of Georgia College of
Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, will speak in the
opening session. The UGA CAES diversity relations office is
coordinating the event.
Symposium, tours, workshops
The conference will have a high school symposium, local tours,
mobile workshops, a career fair and motivational speakers. It
will include workshops on leadership, financial management,
agriculture, food science and career development.
MANRRS promotes minority involvement in agriculture and related
sciences. It has a national office, 50 chapters at U.S. colleges
and universities and 1,200 members. Among them are undergraduate
and graduate students and professionals of diverse
backgrounds.
