Business, skills workshop for landscape beginners

For people just starting a landscaping or lawn care business and
those who haven’t been at it long, the University of Georgia
offers a helping hand. It’s called the “Business Skills Workshop
for Beginning Landscape and Lawn Care Professionals” Nov. 15-16
in Griffin, Ga.

The workshop will cover the nuts and bolts of starting your own
business. UGA faculty and industry leaders will share tips on
developing a business plan, marketing, finding and keeping good
employees, legal issues, cost estimating, job bidding, trade
associations, GPS applications, common problems, helpful
resources and wise decision making.

The sessions begin each day at 8:30 a.m. in the Stuckey Building
on the UGA campus in Griffin. They end at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday and

The fee is $150, or $250 for two people from the same firm. It
covers instruction, refreshment breaks and lunch both days, cost
estimating software (a $100 value) and handout materials. Seating
is limited, so sign up early.
