Walter Reeves

Spring is here, and “Gardening in
Georgia
” can’t be far behind. Host Walter Reeves and the
popular Georgia Public Television show will return to the air
Wednesday, April 4.

In his first show of the season, Reeves will show how to build
three different types of cold frames to protect plants as you
bring them outside in spring. He makes the first with four bales
of hay and an old window sash, the second with a storm window and
1-inch-by-6-inch boards and the third of PVC pipe and 4-mil
plastic sheeting.

He also shows how to hide those less-than-gorgeous daffodil
leaves after the blooms are gone and before the leaves have
turned yellow. (It’s important for next year’s blooms to keep the
leaves on the plant as long as you can.)

Finally, Reeves shows how to plant tomatoes properly by buying
disease-resistant varieties, planting deeply after removing lower
leaves, fertilizing lightly and watering in the plants.
