Commercial and amateur greenhouse growers can learn how to
propagate the best of the best Georgia landscape plants at
Gwinnett Technical College March 20 in Lawrenceville, Ga.
The propagation school will be the final of three days of
greenhouse workshops. A two-day program March 18-19 is designed
for people interested in getting into the greenhouse business.
The final day, Saturday, includes sessions by University of
Georgia scientists and industry experts on the scientific
background of plant propagation.
The hands-on afternoon sessions will show how to propagate the
Georgia Gold Medal winners. Attenders can take home a load of
cuttings and seeds.
Greenhouse school
Sessions Thursday and Friday will show how to size up the risks
involved in the greenhouse business and learn industry norms.
Through lectures and hands-on activities, attenders will learn
about everything from choosing greenhouses and sites to
scheduling and growing crops to managing and marketing the
business.
The early deadline to sign up for either workshop is March 1.
After then, fees increase by $20. The early fee is $105 for the
“Getting Started” school and $195 for the plant propagation
school.
The fees cover refreshments, lunches, extensive printed materials
and plants, seeds, containers, etc., for the hands-on workshops.
