David Knauft, associate dean in the College of Agricultural
and Environmental Sciences at the
University of Georgia, has begun a year-long term as president of
the Council for Agricultural
Science and Technology.



CAST works to identify scientific issues relating to food,
agriculture and natural resources, and
provides science-based information to national legislators,
regulators and the media. CAST is
made up of 38 professional societies, represented on the board of
directors.



As president, Knauft helps the executive vice president
coordinate identifying issues, developing
science-based responses and disseminating this information. CAST
uses various forms to share
its information, including task force reports, issue papers,
senate briefings, conferences, media
announcements and Web pages.
