Mary Ann Parsons received a University of Georgia College of
Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association young
alumni achievement award Sept. 16 in Athens, Ga.
Parsons is a 2002 UGA graduate with a bachelor’s degree in
agricultural communications, minoring in agribusiness, and is
working on a master’s degree in agricultural leadership. She is
the development coordinator and assistant executive director of
the Georgia 4-H Foundation.
“Mary Ann will be successful in whatever work she chooses because
of her tremendous work ethic, her willingness to take on new
opportunities and her outgoing personality,” said Arch Smith,
executive director of the Georgia 4-H Foundation.
Parsons also worked as an alumni and development specialist with
the CAES Office of College Advancement, where she developed
brochures and maintained the office’s Web site.
As a student, she helped charter UGA’s first and only
agricultural sorority, Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural
Sorority. She was also active in Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity,
Brass Gavel Leadership Society and Agricultural Communicators of
Tomorrow and was vice president of Ag Hill Council.
