University of Georgia professor Anna V.A. Resurreccion received the D.W. Brooks
Faculty Award for Excellence in International Agriculture Oct. 3 in Athens, Ga.
The award, which includes a framed certificate and $5,000, is given in honor of D.W.
Brooks, founder of Gold Kist Inc. and Cotton States Mutual Insurance Companies.
Brooks was an advisor on agriculture and trade issues to seven U.S. presidents.
Resurreccion developed and leads a UGA research program on consumer sensory
science. Data from her lab is used to design and develop new food
products for global markets.
A professor of food science and technology, Resurreccion has distinguished herself
through her contributions to international research and exceptional creativity. She
has helped globalize the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Science’s
peanut processing and utilization research program.
One of Resurreccion’s recognized strengths is the training she gives to the
graduate students, postdoctoral associates and visiting scientists who come to her
Griffin, Ga., laboratory to study sensory evaluation and quality measurement
methods.
These scientists, who represent 13 countries, return home and assume
leadership roles. It was mainly this group who provided letters of support for her
nomination for the Brooks award.
Resurreccion has published more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles, seven
book chapters, two books and more than 500 technical and scientific articles. She
has received many international, national and regional awards.

clear in her participation as a speaker or author of 324 presentations
worldwide.
