Marie Truesdell received a University of Georgia College of
Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association young
alumni achievement award Sept. 16 in Athens, Ga.
A 1999 UGA graduate with a Ph.D. in agricultural economics,
Truesdell chairs the department of business and is an assistant
professor at Marian College in Indianapolis, Ind.
“Widely liked and respected by students and staff alike, Marie
has increasingly played a role in the leadership and direction
of Marian College,” said William B. Harting, associate registrar
at Marian.
Since joining the Marian faculty, she created an economics major
for the school of business, wrote curriculum and developed
courses for the economics program and recruited a viable number
of students for the program.
“Marie is an asset to the college and to the department for her
innovation, willingness to try new ideas, ability to lead and her
enthusiasm for teaching and learning,” said Connie Wesner, Marian
College associate dean for academic affairs.
Truesdell teaches two economics courses each semester and
recruits economics majors in addition to her other duties as
department chair.
