out in the country. Look around you. Everywhere you look, you
see
topics of the Urban
Agriculture Field Day Aug. 16 in Griffin, Ga.


The field day, at the Georgia Experiment Station, will show
how to manage and maintain
commercial and home landscapes and recreational facilities.


Among the topics: screening deciduous azaleas, testing
blueberries, butterfly
gardening, fire ant management, new grasses, abelias, tall
fescues for Georgia, white grub
control and many, many more.


It’s open to the public. Anyone interested in turf and
ornamental horticulture is
invited.


Two Field Days in
One


The field day will include an ornamentals open house and a
turf grass field day. Both
are presented by the Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture, a
program of the University of
Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.


Several categories of professional pesticide applicators may
get recertification credit
on completing the field day.


The fee for the field day is $25 before Aug. 7 and $40 after
that. This covers
registration, instruction, refreshment breaks and a barbecue
lunch.
