It’s hard enough to grow a grain crop. Farmers certainly
don’t need to lose any of it
after they’ve grown it. To help them maintain quality in
stored
grains, the University of
Georgia will have a workshop July 27 at the Coastal Plain
Experiment Station in Tifton,
Ga.

The workshop sessions will cover the basic principles of
grain drying, aeration, insect
monitoring, protectant insecticides and fumigation.

Auburn University and the Alabama Wheat and Feed Grain
Committee will cosponsor the
training. It’s designed for growers who store their grain on
the farm. But county agents
and industry representatives are invited to attend, too.

The workshop is free, but preregistration is required. To
sign up, or to learn more
about the program, call Debbie Rutland at (912) 386-3424.
